Introduction:-
The main three purposes of marriage inauguration is itemized, namely:- for companionship, for Sexual-Intercourse enjoyment and for Procreation. All Christian homes should work towards the fulfillment of these purposes to impress God who planned and established marriage on earth.
The Lord God is the God of love. He demonstrates love and wishes the Christian homes to cherish love and practice it. The expected moral and godliness which should be practised by each Christian home is the symbol and imitation of the divine love of God towards mankind.

Topic:- TYPES OF LOVE AND THEIR MANIFESTATIONS

Text:- Romans 12: 9 – 10

There are many kinds of love with their manifestations. Each Matrimonial Home should observe and choose suitable kinds of love which would reveal the glory of God for the edification of their home and the society where they found themselves. We are now be taking and considering the kinds of love one after the other for observation.

a. Compassionate Love:-
Love from Merciful Heart. This is unconditional and selfless love towards humankind. The empathetic and sympathetic love. The most genuinely love (Romans 12: 9 – 10). The extreme love of sacrificing oneself (John 3: 16, (I John 4: 9 – 10).
Studying Verses:- Romans 12: 9 – 10, 12, 15 – 19.
This is the feelings of being merciful and an act of showing empathy and concerns for the humanities (i. e. For both males and females individuals). This type of love is known as Agape in Greek. Agape love is the love of God towards humanities. God sees us as valuable and precious to Himself not because of the things we offered unto God. But God just loves humanities unconditionally. This is genuine love (Agape) which is expected from each godly home. The love is an active one rather than a mere feeling. Romans 12:9 directly commands, “Let love be genuine,” meaning it must be free from fake acts, pride, or hidden selfish goals. It manifests God’s own unconditional love shown through Jesus (Romans 12: 9 – 10). This is extremely godly and all Christians are expected to adopt this (I John 4: 9 – 10).

Possessors:- The Consecrated and Born Again Christians that have confessed Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour. All Mankind who had surrendered themselves to be agents of God, those who got ready to sacrifice themselves for the salvation of others.

b. Pragmatic Love:-
The love which is Empathetic (Ni itara) and Sympathetic (Laanu) in mind and actions with the aim of solving others problems. It’s the love which makes one to labour for neighbours’ progress (Galatians 5: 13), carrying neighbours’ burden (Gal. 6: 2, Romans 15: 1 – 2). Pragmatic love is concerned with the welfare of neighbours. (Galatians 5: 13), (Gal. 6: 2, Romans 15: 1 – 2).
This is an act of a person (be it male or female) that committed himself or herself to humanities’ problems’ solving. He or she always full of effective activities for positive and productive changes in the life of other human beings. A person who is pragmatic always eager to see that one has success in all his or her endeavours as the scripture mandates the Christ followers to serve their neighbours in love (Galatians 5: 13, Gal. 6: 2). A person (a spouse) who is pragmatic is always seen as a responsible one full of duties for the growth, development and progress of his or her home. This type of love endures for long. This is godly helping hand.

Possessors:- Spouses are the burden bearers of each other as husband and wife. Parents could be pragmatic towards their children. Merciful Outsiders could also be emerged with no intention of involving in sexual-intercourse with the concerned challenge bearer. Non-relatives and outsiders could serve as Sponsors to play one or two other positive roles in the progress and success of others.

c. Storge Love:-
This is a type of love within family members. (Proverbs 3: 27 – 29), (I John 3: 17 – 18), (Acts 23: 12 – 16).
It’s a type of love that reflects parental affection for their children and other elderly ones in the family, likewise within other family members in extended and compound families. This love works on caring for the members of the family in terms of protection, feeding, sheltering, health, etc. This kind of love aims at improving welfare of each member in each family. This type of love worked for Apostle Paul when he was about to be killed by the enemies of gospel. The scripture says:- ……. some Jews formed a conspiracy and bound themselves with an oath not to eat or drink until they had killed Paul. More than forty men were involved in this plot. They went to the chief priests and the elders and said, “We have taken a solemn oath not to eat anything until we have killed Paul. Now then, you and the Sanhedrin petition the commander to bring him before you on the pretext of wanting more accurate information about his case. We are ready to kill him before he gets here.” But when the son of Paul’s sister heard of this plot, he went into the barracks and told Paul – Acts 23: 12 – 16 (NIV).‬

Possessors:- Each member in a home. Father and Mother (Parents), Children, Aunty, Uncles, Grandfather, grandmother, etc.

d. Consummative Love:-
The complete love in marriage. The absolute love in a Matrimonial Home. The very perfect love which Matrimonial Home should be adopted from God and Jesus Christ His Son. It must be without deceit (Romans 12: 9 – 10). The love which puts on the spirit of sacrifice (John 3: 16, (I John 4: 9 – 10). It must be empathetic and sympathetic by carrying others’ burden (Galatians 5: 13), (Gal. 6: 2, Romans 15: 1 – 2), (I John 3: 17 – 18).

Relationships in marriage which includes SEXUAL-INTERCOURSE (Proverbs 5: 14 – 18, I Corinthians 7: 1 – 5) till down (till old age period or lifetime). It encourages complete love between husband and wife. Consummate love could always be recognised as Eros love. Eros love refers to sexual attraction. It only takes on its true meaning when it’s combined with Agape love in the marriage relationship. That is the only way it is going to be effective. Eros love wouldn’t work alone in a godly way with spouses, but the consummate love reflects it’s real meaning in the combination of Eros and Agape (i. e. The love of God through the Lord Jesus Christ for humanities) when both spouses in marriage are extremely obedient in their responsibilities (or obligations) as the God’s mandate in marriage (Proverbs 5: 15 – 20, I Corinthians 7: 3 – 9). This type of love is the best for each matrimonial home to be adopted.

Possessors:- This type of love is the will of God for humanities and it should be erupted between husband and wife alone. It should neither involve any children in the home nor any male or female from outside.

e. Philia or Phileo Love:-
The love is conditional. The love of do me I do you Matthew 5: 44 – 48). A bargained love (Genesis 30: 31).

This has to do with anything seen in a person that gives you pleasure. This may be beauty, complexion, characters and attitudes, performances, dialects, occupation, etc. Or Love between friends based on deep trust and mutual respect to each other. This is the love bring and I bring. If you don’t bring I would not bring. Like the love of services between Laban and Jacob when the scripture says:- So Laban asked, “What should I give you?” “You don’t need to give me a thing,” Jacob replied, “but if you agree to this one condition, I will continue to care for your flocks and protect them – Genesis 30: 31(NET). ….. Agreed,” said Laban. “Let it be as you have said.” – Genesis 30: 32 – 34 (NIV). If the condition failed or vanished, the love failed and vanished. This type of love should not be adopted by any Christian home. It is ungodly.

Possessors:- Some husbands or wives possess this type of love. Some parents have this love towards their children. Some bosses, masters, leaders are also possessed with this type of love towards their workers and followers.

f. Philautia Love:-
The word “Philautia” is a Greek word and it means self-love. This is selfishness (Proverbs 18: 1).

It is an immoral and ungodly attitude of a spouse (husband or wife) who could not work together with his or her spouse for their household progress. He or she would prefer to work individually and disagree with collective and cooperative work. He or she would against togetherness. He or she would be interested in being healthier and richer in possession than his or her spouse. Even, if his or her spouse is having progress more than him or her, he or she would be looking, struggling and working towards his or her spouse downfall. This type of love is spring up from jealous (Maina love). It is common in some husband’s lifestyle. Some husbands do not want their wives richer in possession than them; they believe that if it’s happened that their wives richer than them, the wives would be arrogant and proud. This is foolishness and Satanic. It is ungodly to be operating in isolation as a spouse in a home for the scripture says:- A man who isolates himself seeks his own desire; He rages against all wise judgment – Proverbs 18: 1(NKJV). Each spouse should identify selfishness as an abomination to God and that is the reason why the scripture says:- Do not eat the bread of a selfish man,Or desire his delicacies – Proverbs 23: 6 (NASB) because …. he is the kind of person who is always thinking about the cost. “Eat and drink,” he says to you, but his heart is not with you. You will vomit up the little you have eaten and will have wasted your compliments – Proverbs 23: 7 – 8 (NIV). It’s ungodly and deadly.

Possessors:- Stingy and Ungenerous Persons, Unmerciful ones. There are many parents that are stingy towards their children. They could not struggle, work and spend their money towards the progress of their children regardless of the outsiders.
